Hi, attached to the image you may find a link to a website that is ideal for the early learning of maths according to the age and level of the child. For our stage, select the first level (Grade 1). The Web Game is not free, however there is a free trial and it might be of benefit to use it while it lasts.
P.S. – While this is a kids game which is catered towards child-friendly content, it is important to monitor and be present when the child is using this website and any other online resource to safeguard their well being and limit their screen time, especially during this time of continuously being at home.

Below you may find a number of videos from Youtube which are interactive games for the children to enage in. I have included the normal format as well as the safe format.
P.S. – It is important that these videos are not used by themselves to ‘teach’ children. These are just some videos to complement the learning of the child for a few minutes, not for long periods of time.

Although online games and activities are all well and good for the learning of mathematical concepts, actual real life games and activities are very helpful in developing and understanding different mathematical concepts. Therefore, below I have included some activities which can be done at home that do not require any special equipment or resources, just simple everyday items:
Scavenger Hunt: Finding ‘8’ pieces of some thing

Sorting According to Colour, Shape, Size etc.

Learning the Concepts of Heavy and Light with an easy DIY Balance

Counting

Obviously there are many more things you can do with everyday items, Pinterest.com is the holy grail for that!
Over the course of these last 6 weeks, we covered many things about the theme of photography; from old cameras to underwater photography, to stop-motion. I enjoyed and learned from this project as much as the children did, so it was very enjoyable for me.
Now I want to know what you as a parent think of the project we did. Through this link you can find a short questioner to fill out regarding your thoughts on the project.
Thanks for your collaboration and help π
Ms. Nicole

Part of the Emergent curriculum we are implementing in our classrooms, is communicating with other children from other schools and other classrooms to create a joint project.
In Collaboration with Ms Nicole Catania and her class, we planned to do a joint project about bees. One of the things we collectively decided to do its create a recyled stor with the children. Using an online storybook creator, we recreated the traditional fable of ‘the three little pigs’ with a twist, more specifically a bee twist.
We started off by creating the story and what tools and roles we will be taking on as a whole group, where we as educator provoked the children ‘s thinking using questions and suggestions, to let the children take the lead on the discussion of how this will go about. Then we went on to creating the book.
The children were able to express their imagination and creativity, while still maintaining a group-approach as they took turns to take part in the storybook making process. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills were also being used in action, as well as language and literacy skills.
Below you can see the finished result, of these brilliant kids’ hard work.
